Beam On faces a lot of accusations from investors that their customer demographics are not diverse enough and that their target group is not diverse enough to sustain long term profitability and growth. Beam On has contended this point and argues that they continue to market to all groups equally and seek to retain a diverse customer group.

When looking at total customer groups of all ages, Beam On’s customer has a 34.75% chance of being a female. When looking at their target customer group, users 18-24 and 25-31, the customer has a 35.36% chance to be a female.

Discrepancies in the percentages may exist due to how the target customer groups utilizes internet data. Beam On looks exclusively at download rates and not upload rates when examining user data and target customer groups. Download rate is the primary focus and is likely to be increased in males over females whereas females may have increased upload rates. This is due to the differences in internet usage as male users typically consume content through internet gaming, video streaming, and data downloading and females may be more likely to create content and upload videos, while streaming data instead using heavy data download rates.
